751: Per Diem School Safety Officer 6HR (NBOE)

The Per Diem School Safety Officer serves under the direction of the Executive Director of Safety and his immediate staff. The Per Diem School Safety Officer will patrol the facilities, buildings, grounds and other areas of the school as directed. The Per Diem School Safety Officer must have all the powers conferred by law on Police Officers in the City of Newark and be able to enforce school, state laws and the apprehension of offenders. The Per Diem School Safety Officer will play an integral role in achieving the mission and goals of Newark Public Schools (NPS) by providing all Newark’s students with a safe and secure place to learn. The Per Diem School Safety Officer works closely with the Senior Safety Managers and Principals to help ensure the physical safety of all district personnel and students. This position may also be responsible for other duties as required.
