When you join Newark Board of Education, you’ll join an extraordinary team of teachers who are fueling a district and a city on the rise. You’ll also join a community-led movement committed to giving each of our 40,245 students the outstanding education they need to write their own futures—and help lead our city forward.
Today, our teachers receive professional development grounded in collaboration and peer learning. We’ve introduced new curriculum and more rigorous courses that prepare students for college and career. And our families have more opportunities than ever to be involved in their children’s education.
Our Results
The results speak for themselves. Our students have made huge strides in math and reading achievement, outpacing similar districts across New Jersey. In three years, Newark Board of Education rose from the 19th to the 75th percentile in math and from the 33rd to 61st percentile in ELA compared to similar districts in the state. 85.7% of students graduate on time, even while graduation requirements have increased. Our graduates earn admission to prestigious universities like Harvard, Yale, and Rutgers.
But we’re not done yet. Guided by our Strategic Plan, we’re on a mission to ensure that every student—in every ward—has the skills and knowledge they need to succeed. And we’re looking for great teachers to join us.
